The People Vaccine Alliance reveals that Covid-19 Vaccine makes at least new 9 billionaire. The alliance demands immediate removal of pharmaceutical companies “monopoly”.
It reveals that 9 people net wealth would be enough to facilitate for vaccine in lower income countries but due to monopoly these wealth are only in the hands of 9 people.
The alliance is working and campaigning to eliminate temporarily property rights and patents for vaccine.
Top of the new vaccine billionaires are the CEO of Moderna Stephane Bancel, and his BioNTech counterpart Ugur Sahin. Other three new billionaires are co-founders of the Chinese vaccine company CanSino Biologics.
It is important to mention that the United States as well as influential figures like Pope Fancis, back the idea of global waiver on patent protection.
